NESCA Annual Awards
Annually, the Nebraska Emergency Services Communicators Association officers of Nebraska shall recognize one or more Nebraska public safety communicator(s) for outstanding service. Two awards are given out by agency nomination and two awards are given out by NESCA board nominations.
Public Safety Communicator
of the Year Award
Agency Nomination
AWARD CRITERIA – The recipient will be the nominee that best exemplifies that concept of the professional communicator and must meet the following requirements:

Personal and professional conduct must be indicative of unimpeachable moral character, emotional stability, integrity and dependability.

Must display personal habits meriting the respect and esteem of co-workers.
-
Exhibit outstanding performance in the control of any situation where lives and/or property are in great jeopardy or endangerment.
-
Exceptional courage, foresight, alertness or skill in the performance of highly creditable and unusual communication accomplishments.
-
Acts of valuable communications services demonstrating special faithfulness and perseverance.
-
Actions that reflect the highest tradition of public safety communications service.
-
Actions, which demonstrate dedication to the Public Safety Communications field and a continuing interest in maintaining the highest standards, including the creation of innovative ideas and involvement towards the implementation of these improved procedures.

Lifetime Achievement Award
NESCA Board Nomination
AWARD STANDARDS – The award is for recognition for outstanding service and service to others in the field through NESCA sanctioned training, good judgment and devotion to duty in which the communicator has performed services which are of special value to public safety communications in the state of Nebraska. The recipient must be a member of NESCA for 10 consecutive years and have been in the public safety field for a minimum of 15 years.
Laura Becker Memorial Award
NESCA Board Nomination
AWARD STANDARDS – Named for past NESCA President Laura Becker who was killed in a car crash in 2008, this award recipient is selected by the NESCA Board and is presented to a person or persons whose hard work and dedication to the organization is unparalleled.
